On 10th January, bringing along the Premier League trophy, I visited The Willows Primary School and Halifax Primary School in Ipswich.
The Ipswich Town Foundation, which does fantastic work here in our town, delivered two assemblies helping to highlight the role football can play in all of our lives. Students were given the chance to have their photo alongside the trophy, and to quiz me on my job as a local MP. And, as a very special surprise from the club, several students also won tickets to see the Tractor Boys take on Brighton and Hove Albion at Portman Road.
The boost that having a Premier League club brings is not just economic, as important as that is, but it can also be measured in the way Ipswich Town inspires and brings such joy to so many people. You could see that by how excited the kids were!
My thanks go to the Premier League and ITFC for their engagement and generosity, and for giving the children lasting memories.
