11th September 2024 – Jack Abbott MP writes to Justice Secretary about early release scheme

On 11th September, I wrote to the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, Shabana Mahmood, regarding the Government’s early release scheme, introduced to combat the prisons crisis inherited from the previous Conservative government.

Though an early release scheme was inevitable, given the scale of the problem left by the previous Government, I asked her to review the case of Adam Andrews, a man who caused life-changing injuries to a small baby.
