14th November 2024 - Jack Abbott MP raises COVID-19 fraud scandal in Parliament

On 14th November, in Questions to the Attorney General, I raised the scandalous levels of COVID-19 related fraud during the pandemic.


Figures released by the Government show that billions of pounds of taxpayer's money was wasted on contracts that were never delivered on, contrary to the previous government's broken promise that 'where a contract is not delivered against, we do not intend to pay taxpayer's money'.


I asked the minister responsible why it has taken 4 and a half years and the election of a Labour government to finally begin to recoup the billions of pounds lost to fraudsters during a time in which so many people in our town made unimaginable sacrifices and suffered heart-breaking loss.
