On 15th January- National Pothole Day- I welcomed the fact that Suffolk is set to receive £44 million- an increase of more than a third on last year- as part of a national £1.6 billion funding package.
This funding goes beyond even Labour’s manifesto pledge, and will help councils across the country fix the equivalent of seven million potholes across England next year, saving drivers hundreds of pounds.
I know that people here in Suffolk are sick to the back teeth of navigating the pothole epidemic that exploded on the watch of Suffolk County Council and of the previous government. But with this huge boost in funding, it is now incumbent on Suffolk County Council to act, and repair our broken roads.
