17th January - Canvassing in Gainsborough

Our Ipswich Labour team was out and about talking to residents in Gainsborough this morning.

The state of our roads keeps coming up in conversation.

As I wrote about in this blog, last week Conservative-run Suffolk County Council was rated as one of the worst local authorities in the country for road maintenance.

It is not difficult to see why.

Our Labour Government has given Suffolk County Council a record funding settlement - £219 million over the next four years after a near 50% increase this year.

They have got the money.

It is time they finally fix our crumbling roads.
