1st May- Brighten the Corners Festival Takes Over Ipswich!

We have to talk about last weekend.

The Brighten The Corners All Dayer. What a way to kick off Ipswich's summer.

Thousands of people supporting talented local artists. Every venue packed. The whole town alive.

This is exactly why I wanted Ipswich to enter the City of Culture competition. Our arts and culture scene isn’t just simmering away anymore, it’s exploded, and we should keep shouting about it.

My personal highlights:

Doll Face - Superdry / Buttermarket

Jaded Teeth and Uprock DJs - Arcade Street Tavern

Ryski and the Fool's Moon - The Church Ipswich

Ashleigh Bankx - The Thomas Wolsey

Dream Houses - Halberd Inn

Massive thanks to Joe, Marcus, Caitlin and the whole team at Brighten the Corners for another incredible festival. Thanks also to all the venues, sponsors and organisers who helped make it happen, not least Lee Walker and Ipswich Central without whose support the BTC All Dayer would simply not have been possible.

Now comes THIS weekend, with the whole town getting ready to turn blue and white. Three points at Portman Road, and the Premier League awaits.

9th May - Statement on Local Elections

There's no getting away from it, this was a tough election for the Labour Party across the country. In Ipswich, we took the fight to Reform and won a number of areas convincingly. Huge congratulatio
