Jack Abbott has spoken out following a series of Islamophobic and racist comments made in response to the return of Eid in the Park in Christchurch Park next month.

The Ipswich MP described the reaction as “disheartening” and “deeply disappointing,” especially as the event celebrates faith, family and community—and is raising funds for local children’s charity 4YP.

Jack said:

“Freedom of religion is a fundamental British value, and we all have a duty to uphold it. I was privileged to attend Eid in the Park last year—it was a warm, welcoming event that brought people together. Bigotry has no place in Ipswich.”

Jack joins local councillor Ruman Muhith in standing up against hate and reaffirming that Ipswich’s diversity is a strength, not something to be feared.
