OUR LABOUR GOVERNMENT'S RENTERS' RIGHTS BILL HAS BECOME LAW!
This will make such a difference to so many people in Ipswich - here is what it means for you:
No more bidding wars. It will be illegal to request, encourage or accept offers above the set price.
Landlords will not be allowed to ask for more than one month's rent upfront.
No more 'no-fault' evictions. All evictions will require valid grounds.
An end to fixed term tenancies. All tenancies will default to being a monthly rolling contract.
More rights for your pets. Landlords must consider pet requests fairly.
Making it illegal for landlords and agents to discriminate against prospective tenants in receipt of benefits or with children.
Landlords will have to give at least four months notice when ending a tenancy to sell.
Delivering Awaab’s Law, making sure homes are made safe when they contain dangerous hazards.
Giving local authorities more power to act to ensure good standards, and ensuring the Decent Homes Standard applies to private rental.
