As Chair of the Labour East PLP, it was a pleasure to kick off our region’s reception at #Lab25.
I said then that I’m proud of what we’ve already achieved — from delivering major infrastructure projects that will create thousands of skilled, secure and well-paid jobs, to rebuilding our public services and investing in our communities.
But there’s still more to do, and I’m more ambitious and determined than ever.
This week, I also joined a panel hosted by the New Statesman and the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), alongside Minister for Energy Michael Shanks MP, Andy Prendergast (GMB), Mark Tarry (AMP Clean Energy) and Caroline Bragg (ADE).
We discussed how households, businesses and industry can support the clean energy mission — from cutting bills and driving investment to creating good jobs and ensuring a fair transition for workers and communities.
Transforming our energy economy is vital not just for tackling the climate crisis, but for boosting regional growth and creating opportunities in towns like Ipswich.
