Jack Abbott has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering ambitious, long-term change for Ipswich—by leading efforts to attract major investment and regenerate the town.
Writing in an opinion piece, Jack outlined his visit to UKREiiF, the UK’s largest investment forum, where he launched the East of England Inward Investment Prospectus—a £4.2 billion portfolio of investment-ready projects. Among them: the £100 million Portman Road Redevelopment.
Jack said:
“I promised leadership and ambition—and that’s exactly what I’m delivering. From a state-of-the-art aquatics centre to a new hotel and expanded stadium capacity, this redevelopment is a game-changer for Ipswich.”
He praised the work of Ipswich Borough Council in bringing key buildings back into use, such as Grimwades, and sealing a multi-million-pound deal with M&S—evidence that real progress is already underway.
Looking ahead, Jack also backed the case for devolution:
“A Greater Ipswich Council, under an East Anglian Mayor, would unlock even more potential. If we get the right backing, we will deliver.”
His message was clear:
“Ipswich means business—and so do I.”
