4th July - Jack Abbott Celebrates Two Years as Ipswich’s MP

Today marks two years since the 2024 General Election. Two years since I was proudly elected as the Member of Parliament for Ipswich (confirmed in the very early hours of the following morning).
I promised leadership, unity and ambition, and that commitment has never, and will never, change.
It’s why I kickstarted Ipswich’s city of culture bid - I’m proud to shout about our creativity, enterprise and talent, and I’ll always use my platform to talk our town up.
I’m proud of the new investment that has been coming into our town...including the hundreds of jobs secured for Ipswich through my agreement with Sizewell C.
I’m proud that the prime minister came to Ipswich to announce £14 billion for the project...and that our young people would build it.
I’m proud that tens of millions of pounds worth of funding has been secured for communities in Ipswich - it will be transformational.
I’m proud that our public services are being improved, upgraded and rebuilt so they are at the standard you expect, need and deserve.
I’m as determined and motivated as ever, and inspired by the people in our town who do incredible, selfless work...
...who stand up and give a voice to others with such grace and kindness...
...who bring people and communities together through positivity, celebration and hope...
...who invest their time, energy and resources into Ipswich and Suffolk, as well as running their own businesses and organisations...
...who are ambitious and visionary, focused on finding solutions to our challenges, and intent on helping Ipswich reach its potential.
I’m unapologetic about my priorities being centred around giving young people in our town a better future.
But, despite progress, I know how much work we still have to do to get Ipswich to where we all want it to be, and I know many of you have still not felt the change you so desperately need and deserve.
I will keep fighting for what Ipswich, Suffolk and the East of England needs in parliament, and I will continue to champion our town, county and region and showcase all we have to offer at every opportunity. ‘Back us and we will deliver’ is my message.
Thank you to all those who put their faith in me two years ago, and to all the brilliant people who continue to work for our town day in, day out.
And thank you to my friends and family for being right there beside me throughout, especially Jade.
Four generations of my family live in Ipswich. I care deeply about what happens next, but I know we all have a bright future ahead.
