6th April - Jack Abbott Votes to End Two-Child Benefit Cap

  • May 27

Today, our Labour Government has abolished the cruel two-child benefit cap.

In Ipswich, this life-changing decision will lift over 3,000 children out of poverty, and 450,000 children across the country.

When combined with other measures - new breakfast clubs, the expansion of Free School Meals, capping uniform costs, and boosting childcare support - our Labour Government will achieve the biggest reduction in child poverty since records began.

Reform want to reintroduce this disastrous policy and condemn hundreds of thousands of children to poverty. Given that it is full of the same Conservatives who introduced it in the first place, that comes as little surprise. They might have tried to rebrand, but leopards never change their spots. We won't forget the damage they did to so many children and families.

After 14 years of misery under the Conservatives, you voted for change. Labour are delivering that change.
