7th April - Millions of Workers to Receive Biggest Upgrade to Rights in a Generation

Millions of workers are set for the biggest upgrade to their rights in a generation.
The next raft of protections from our Labour Government's Employment Rights Act comes into force today and delivers:
Day one rights to paternity leave and unpaid parental leave
Statutory Sick Pay strengthened, including day one sick pay
Bereaved Partners’ Paternity Leave
Stronger protections for whistleblowers who ‘blow the whistle’ on sexual harassment
A new Fair Work Agency to enforce workers’ rights.
A ban on exploitative zero hours contracts and the ending of 'fire and rehire’ is on the way too.
These changes will help people stay secure in work, balance family life, and keep more money in their pocket.
Reform and the Conservatives oppose these measures, and have said they will scrap these crucial worker's rights should they enter power.
They might think workers should be left in poorly paid, insecure employment, but I think people in Ipswich and across the country deserve far better.
People voted for change and Labour are delivering that change.
