7th August - Ipswich Hospital to get Specialist Mental Health Crisis Support

I am delighted that people in Ipswich will be able to access specialist mental health crisis support at Woodlands Unit.

Woodlands already plays an important role in providing specialist mental health services locally, and this is about bringing additional dedicated emergency provision to the site.

At the moment, someone experiencing a mental health crisis may have to go through A&E and wait for specialist mental health support to become available. That is not the experience we want for people at one of the most difficult points in their lives.

This new provision should help people access the right specialist support in the right setting, closer to home, while reducing pressure on busy A&E departments.

Delivering better mental health provision is a priority for me, and I will continue working with local health services to make sure people in Ipswich and across Suffolk can get the support they need when they need it.
