7th September - Jack Abbott Speaks in Parliament about Local Government Reorganisation Decision

I understand the disappointment felt by local residents, businesses, organisations and councils by today’s announcement.

A huge amount of work has been undertaken on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Ipswich and Suffolk, particularly over the past six months when the original decision was made.

LGR is about looking forward, ending a status quo that isn't working for anyone, delivering better local services and offering value for money.

I spoke in Parliament following the Government’s announcement to press for reassurance that we aren’t going to go back to the start of the drawing board.

I will continue to back an ambitious future for our town and our county, and continue to press the Government for a settlement that works for us.
