8th November 2024 - Jack Abbott MP calls for transformation of clean heat market

On 8th November, I wrote an article in Business Green exploring how the UK can transform our clean heat market to cut bills and boost business, without costing the Treasury billions of pounds.

I set out how the transition to net zero is not just about 'set-piece' energy projects and infrastructure, but also about decarbonising our housing stock, too. The Government's Warm Homes Plan is a great start, but, as I argue in the article, supporting a wider range of low-carbon heat technologies will provide the Government more flexibility to decarbonise Britain's heterogenous housing stock.

This approach won't cost the Treasury billions of extra pounds in capital spending, but has the potential to be quietly transformational nonetheless.
