11th June - New Powers for Ipswich Borough Council to Bring Vacant Properties Back into Use

For too long, Ipswich has put up with boarded-up shops and empty units dragging down our town centre.

Our Government is taking action to turn that around by backing Ipswich Borough Council with stronger powers so they can bring vacant properties back into use.

Alongside the £41.5 million Pride in Place funding secured for Ipswich, our Government is backing long-term regeneration that puts local people at the centre of decision-making and delivers visible improvements people can see and feel in their area.

Our town has huge potential, strong communities and a generation of young people who deserve opportunity, investment and ambition for the future.

I will keep working to unlock that potential and deliver the renewal our town deserves.
