Jack Abbott Launches
Summer School
As Ipswich’s local Member of Parliament, Jack Abbott is committed to using his position to help young people start their careers in politics, public service and campaigning. Jack was given his chance in politics through a summer school, and now he wants to give the same chance to the next generation. He is proud to be launching his first ever summer school.

16 selected individuals, each aged between 18 and 24, will be given the opportunity to develop their skills for future involvement in politics and public service. There will also be opportunities to meet high profile figures from within the Labour and Co-operative Parties.
The programme will run for two weeks from 11 to 23 August 2025. The first week will include intensive training from a range of experts and a visit to Parliament. The remaining days will be based in Ipswich, working on local campaigns in the community.
Applications are now open. To apply, you just need to fill in this application form and send it to jack.abbott.mp@parliament.uk before 17.00 on Friday 20 June. All candidates must be aged 18-24 and available Monday- Saturday on weeks commencing 11 August and 18 August 2025.
Previous experience in campaigning or community outreach may help your application but is not essential. We are keen to encourage applications from those historically underrepresented in politics and from those with a connection to Ipswich.
There is no cost to participate in the Summer School, although you’ll need to arrange your own accommodation and food if not resident in Ipswich. If you would like to participate but cannot due to financial constraints, please email jack.abbott.mp@parliament.uk to discuss what support may be available.
You do not have to be a member of the Labour Party to participate.
