On 25th November, I welcomed campaigners from the Campaign to Save Mental Health Services in Norfolk and Suffolk (NSFT Crisis) to Westminster, where they met with MPs from across Norfolk and Suffolk.
In October, I raised the scandalous state of our area's mental health services in Parliament- an issue which I have campaigned on for a number of years.
I hosted this meeting as I felt it was crucial that the new MPs in our region meet with bereaved families and campaigners to hear the devastating impact of our mental health crisis. I thank those families and campaigners for joining us, and sharing their moving testimonies.
I will continue to work cross-party and cross-county- as well as with the Government- to support the short-term improvements and long-term reforms that are necessary.
From my conversations with colleagues, both at the meeting and in my previous work on this issue, I know the Government is steadfastly dedicated to holding the NSFT to account to provide the services that people need and deserve.
While change may take time to be felt, we are also under no illusions that the lived experiences of people have to improve and improve fast.
I spoke to ITV Anglia after the meeting, and you can watch that interview here.
