On 19th January, Ipswich was granted a truly historic honour. St Mary le Tower, which has stood right in the heart of our town for a millennium, celebrated its redesignation as a Minster.
I really can’t overstate just how rare and historic a moment it is for the Church and for our town. Attending the minster-making ceremony, I really felt that this was a proud, unifying, and celebratory moment for everyone in our great town. It truly does mark the beginning of a significant new chapter in Ipswich’s story.
Here’s to the next 1000 years!
