On 19th September, along with other MPs and peers on the East of England All-Party Parliamentary Group, I wrote to the Transport Secretary, Louise Haigh, to highlight the urgent need for the Government to commit to Ely and Haughley junction improvements.
This was the latest of my representations to the Government on this issue, and follows my meetings with Ms Haigh, with the Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, and the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Darren Jones, to discuss the issue.
As the letter outlines, the upgrades to the Ely and Haughley rail junctions represent critical infrastructure projects for our region. Our letter comes as we look to end the years of the dither and delay under the previous Conservative government and press on with a scheme that is crucial for our region’s future prosperity.
