I am delighted that our Labour Government has allocated £1.8 million to support hospice care in Ipswich and across Suffolk.
This investment will transform end of life care for local people and their families, helping our hospices to upgrade their facilities, improve their services and provide even more compassionate care.
St Elizabeth Hospice will receive over £700,000 and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices – which runs The Treehouse in Ipswich – will receive more than £650,000. This follows earlier grants totalling nearly half a million pounds earlier this year.
I have visited both St Elizabeth and EACH, and I have seen first-hand the extraordinary work they do. They support people with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones with such empathy, dignity and care. Their work is invaluable to our community.
When they raised concerns with me about long-term funding, I took those concerns directly to the Secretary of State for Health. I am proud that we have delivered a meaningful response.
This funding will help modernise hospice buildings, expand outreach services, improve digital access, and create more welcoming spaces for patients and their families. It will also support investment in energy efficiency and sustainability.
This is what happens when you have a Labour MP working hand in hand with a
Labour Government. It is a clear sign of the difference we are making — and there is more to come.
